The route and starting point
Bălnaca village no. 302
Șuncuiuș commune, Bihor county, Romania – in the Crișul Repede valley, at the foot of the Pădurea Craiului Mountains.
Tours start and finish at Bălnaca village no. 302. The recreational route follows existing roads outside protected natural areas and passes viewpoints over Bratca, the Crișul Repede river and the Șuncuiuș reservoir. On longer tours, the guide adapts the route to the group and the weather.
Safety
Rules of participation
Every tour is organised and led by a guide, by booking and after a safety briefing.
- Mandatory safety briefing before departure: how to use the equipment, safety rules, the route.
- Protective equipment is provided and must be worn for the whole tour: helmet, knee and elbow pads (ATV), helmet and high-visibility vest (e-bike).
- Follow the tour leader’s instructions at all times and do not leave the set route. Not following them may lead to the tour being stopped at any moment, without any refund.
- No 4x4, low gear or differential lock: driving the ATV in 4x4 mode, in low range or with the differential locked is not allowed.
- Winch: the ATV winch may only be used in the situations specified by the tour leader.
- ATV driver on public roads: minimum age 18 and a category B driving licence. Minors and people without a driving licence can join the driver as passengers.
- Damage: the cost of repairing any damage is borne in full by the customer, together with the related costs (for example transporting the ATV). Repairs can only be carried out by the authorised service centre that also performs the warranty repairs of the equipment.
- No alcohol or other substances before or during the activity.
- We protect nature: the tours follow existing roads and do not enter protected natural areas.
- Weather: in dangerous weather conditions we reschedule the activity.
- Book at least 4 hours ahead: online bookings close 4 hours before the start time.
- No refunds: we start preparing the tour as soon as you book, so the amount cannot be refunded. The booking can be transferred to another person if the person who made it contacts us by e-mail or phone.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can join the guided ATV tour?
Each tour has 2 ATVs for participants, each for 1–2 people, so up to 4 people, accompanied by a guide (who rides their own ATV). The price is per ATV (1–2 people): 1 hour – 250 RON, 2 hours – 400 RON, 3 hours – 500 RON, 4 hours – 600 RON, i.e. 150 RON / hour. When booking, you choose how many ATVs you want (e.g. 4 people on 2 ATVs, 2 hours = 800 RON). 3- and 4-hour tours cannot be booked for the 18:00 start. The tour is just for your group: once you book, the time slot is no longer available to anyone else.
How does the guided e-bike tour work?
We use pedal-assist electric bikes: you pedal as usual and the motor helps you, especially on climbs, so you don’t need to be particularly fit. The price is 70 RON / hour / person, e-bike included, up to 3 people per tour, with a guide. Choose the duration (1 or 2 hours) and the number of people when booking.
What licence do I need to drive an ATV?
The ATV driver must be at least 18 and hold a category B driving licence, because the route also uses public roads. Minors and people without a driving licence can join a driver as passengers.
How far in advance do I need to book?
At least 4 hours before the start time. ATV tours start at 9:00, 14:00 and 18:00; e-bike tours at 9:00 and 14:00.
What protective equipment do I get?
On ATV tours: helmet, knee pads and elbow pads. On e-bike tours: helmet and high-visibility vest. All equipment is checked and cleaned after every use.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothes that can get dirty, closed shoes and an ID. On cooler days, an extra layer.
Where do we meet?
The starting point is Bălnaca village no. 302, Șuncuiuș commune, Bihor county, Romania. Please arrive 15 minutes before your booked time for the safety briefing and to get equipped.
How do I pay?
In cash, on site, before the tour starts. You book online and your booking is confirmed right away, with no advance payment.
Can I cancel my booking?
We start preparing the tour as soon as you book, so the amount cannot be refunded. The booking can, however, be transferred to another person: the person who made the booking contacts us by e-mail or phone. Details in the Terms and conditions.
Why do I sign a declaration when booking?
Before we confirm your booking, we show you the rules of participation and ask you to accept them by entering your name, ID card or passport number, address and a digital signature. This data is only used for identification and for liability regarding the equipment (see our Privacy policy).
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the weather is dangerous, we will contact you to reschedule.
